Job summary

Churches United for the Homeless in Moorhead, MN is hiring a Shelter Advocate to provide 24-hour awake coverage, ensure guest safety and comfort, and connect guests with services. The Shelter Advocate will screen guests, respond to needs, and maintain respectful, inclusive interactions while supporting the program's goals of housing stability and self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service, communication, organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of harm reduction, strength-based and behavior-based models.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential 24-hour awake coverage and supervision of the shelter.
• Conduct intake, assessments, and enrollment where appropriate.
• Maintain guest files and data per program requirements and NVFS guidelines.
• Support guests and cleaning staff to maintain shelter cleanliness and safety.
