Job summary

Seattle Humane is seeking an Admissions Supervisor to oversee the intake process for all animals admitted to the shelter. You will supervise Admissions Coordinators, plan intakes, and ensure department goals align with organizational strategy and mission.

The role supports the Admissions Manager and contributes to programmatic strategy, with leadership across staff, volunteers, and community partners. Flexibility for non-standard hours is required.

Qualifications

• At least two years of employment in an animal shelter setting.
• Customer service experience in highly emotional and stressful situations.
• Experience supervising and/or training staff and volunteers.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices preferred.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Clear writing and effective listening.
• Organizational and planning skills to determine work priorities and manage a budget.
• Ability to analyze problems and interpret statistical information.
• Basic knowledge of Word and Excel; Windows experience; data entry helpful.
• Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Admissions Coordinators and volunteers.
• Schedule and plan animal intakes through transfers and owner surrenders.
• Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
• Discuss animal populations with insights, data, and recommendations.
• Respond to clients and partner organizations in a timely manner.
• Assist in writing or editing memos, newsletters, SOPs, and grants.
• Oversee record-keeping and filing systems per HR guidelines.
• Manage monthly schedule; on-call coverage as needed.
• Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
• Support disaster relief and other urgent operational needs.
• Fulfill Manager-on-Duty responsibilities during non-standard hours.
• Perform opening and closing procedures for the department.
