Job summary

Town of Barnstable in Hyannis, MA is seeking a Shellfish Propagation Technician within the Marine & Environmental Affairs department. You will assist the Shellfish Biologist with propagation and maintenance of nursery systems and habitats, and perform related duties as required.

Applicants should hold an Associate degree in a relevant field, 2+ years of related experience, CPR/First Responder certification, MA driver’s license and swimming ability; scuba certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in environmental science, marine biology, shellfish aquaculture or equivalent; 2+ years related experience.
• First Responder and CPR certification required; MA driver's license; swimming ability.
• Scuba Diver certification desirable.

Shellfish Propagation Technician, Marine & Environmental Affairs

Assists the Shellfish Biologist with general and technical work in matters relating to shellfishery in the town, primarily the propagation and maintenance of nursery systems and habitats; all other related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree in environmental science, marine biology, shellfish aquaculture or equivalent necessary; and more than two years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification as a First Responder and in CPR required. MA drivers license required. Must be able to swim. Certification as a Scuba Diver desirable.

Additional Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in the field of shellfish propagation and management. Knowledge of operation and trailering of small boats.
