Job summary

Barnstable is seeking a Shellfish Propagation Technician in the Marine & Environmental Affairs department. The role involves assisting the Shellfish Biologist with propagation and maintenance of nursery systems and habitats, and related tasks as needed.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate's degree in environmental science, marine biology, shellfish aquaculture or equivalent, plus more than two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in environmental science, marine biology, shellfish aquaculture or equivalent necessary.
  • Certification as a First Responder and in CPR required; MA driver's license required; must be able to swim; Scuba Diver certification desirable.
  • Knowledge/experience in shellfish propagation and management; knowledge of small boat operation and trailering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Shellfish Biologist with propagation and maintenance of nursery systems and habitats; perform related duties as required.

Job description

Shellfish Propagation Technician, Marine & Environmental Affairs

Assists the Shellfish Biologist with general and technical work in matters relating to shellfishery in the town, primarily the propagation and maintenance of nursery systems and habitats; all other related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree in environmental science, marine biology, shellfish aquaculture or equivalent necessary; and more than two years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification as a First Responder and in CPR required. MA drivers license required. Must be able to swim. Certification as a Scuba Diver desirable.

Additional Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in the field of shellfish propagation and management. Knowledge of operation and trailering of small boats.
