Pontchartrain MEP is seeking a skilled AC Duct Installer to join our HVAC team in New Orleans, LA. The role involves installation, modification, and repair of air conditioning duct systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

You will read blueprints, cut and assemble ducts, ensure proper insulation and sealing, and maintain safety standards. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or with a crew are essential.

Qualifications

  • EPA refrigerant handling certification a plus.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable AC Duct Installer to join our dynamic HVAC team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, modification, and repair of air conditioning duct systems in various residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role requires keen attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation:
    • Install new ductwork systems according to specifications, ensuring proper sizing, routing, and insulation.
    • Assemble and secure duct components, including sheet metal, fiberglass ducts, and flexible ducts.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
    • Inspect existing duct systems for leaks, obstructions, or damage.
    • Repair or replace sections of ducts as necessary to maintain system efficiency and performance.
    • Clean ductwork to remove dust, debris, or biological growth.
  • Customization:
    • Fabricate custom duct pieces when standard parts do not fit or meet project requirements.
    • Modify existing duct systems to accommodate new installations or changes in building layouts.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to all local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Customer Interaction:
    • Communicate effectively with clients to explain work being done, address concerns, and provide advice on maintenance and operation of the duct system.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including sketches or digital documentation of system layouts.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in HVAC or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in duct installation, sheet metal work, or HVAC system installation.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in using tools specific to duct installation (e.g., tin snips, shears, rivet guns, etc.).
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
    • Basic understanding of HVAC principles and airflow dynamics.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and operate at heights.
    • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including stooping, bending, and climbing.
  • Certifications:
    • EPA certification for handling refrigerants is a plus.
    • OSHA safety certification beneficial.
  • Other:
    • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to travel to job sites.
