GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position is at a Depot Level repair facility, focusing on maintenance of H-60 aircraft. Military aviation platform experience is a plus. A government-issued clearance is required.
DUTIES
- Perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties, including disassembly, modification, repair, and reassembly of complex aircraft metal items and systems such as bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets, and fuel tanks. These items have both straight and curved edges, with irregular curves and planes.
- Analyze and evaluate structural damage; develop patterns using parallel and radial line development; fabricate, install, and repair various metal items using materials like stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, and aluminum. Replace sections, patch old systems, and shape metals for irregular angles and curves.
- Use assembly joints, fastening systems, riveted or welded joints, drill or punch holes; assemble or repair items by seaming, bolting, screwing, riveting, or tacking. Ensure assembly meets appearance, strength, and critical tolerances. Pass a FRCW certification skills examination as a condition of employment.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, gauges, squares, rulers, and sine bars.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Sheetmetal Mechanic (Aircraft Mechanic II).
- H-60 aircraft experience preferred.
- A&P license is a plus but not required.
- Experience in military fixed wing or civilian heavy structure background preferred.
- Experience in heavy structure U.S. Military, FAA, or civil aviation.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a secret clearance.
- Workplace drug-free, with pre-employment and post-offer substance testing.
Functional Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, crawl, kneel, and bend on various surfaces.
- Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Handle objects, use finger dexterity, and reach above/below shoulders.
- Lift up to 44 pounds; perform visual tasks such as reading gauges and identifying small objects.
Environmental Factors
- Work indoors and outdoors around machinery, vehicles, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and other environmental hazards.
- Work on slippery or uneven surfaces, sometimes alone or in teams.
- Possible irregular hours or extended shifts.
