Job summary

Polk Mechanical Company is seeking a Sheetmetal Apprentice based in Dallas, TX to assist in fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products such as ductwork and air devices while learning the trade.

You will assist in operating fabricating machines, using hand tools, and fitting ductwork according to blueprints. Previous sheetmetal exposure is preferred; learn under supervision and advance safety practices in HVAC environments.

Qualifications

• Basic math is required for measurements and layouts.
• Able to visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings or blueprints.
• Willingness to learn and develop sheetmetal trade skills.
• Understanding of safety practices in mechanical work.
• Preferred: one year of sheetmetal experience in commercial settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and operating fabricating machines (shears, brakes, bending rolls, punch/drill presses).
• Use hand-held power tools and hand tools to assemble ductwork and sheet metal parts.
• Assist with installation of ductwork and sheet metal assemblies per blueprints.
• Assist with installing air moving equipment and related components.
• Inspect and test installations for conformance with project requirements.
• Work under supervision to learn proper trade techniques and safety practices.
