Job summary

Polk Mechanical Company LLC in Dallas, TX is seeking a Sheetmetal Apprentice to assist in fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products such as ductwork and air devices while learning the sheetmetal trade.

You will work under supervision with exposure to tools and equipment; prior sheetmetal experience is preferred and basic math and blueprint reading skills are beneficial.

Qualifications

• Prior sheetmetal experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Ability to visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings, sketches, or blueprints
• Willingness to learn and develop skills in the sheetmetal trade

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and operating fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses
• Use hand-held power tools, air hammers, and hand tools to assist in assembling ductwork and other sheet metal assemblies
• Assist with installation of ductwork and sheet metal assemblies according to blueprints and specifications
• Assist with installation of air moving equipment, such as air handlers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, and unit heaters
• Assist in inspecting and testing installations for conformance with project requirements
• Work under supervision to learn proper trade techniques and safety practices
