Job summary

BARNES Aerospace in East Granby, CT, is seeking a Sheet Metal Assembly Technician for 1st Shift (Mon-Fri, 7:00am–3:30pm). Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, measuring layouts with precision tools, and assembling sheet metal components for aerospace applications.

Requires 1–4 years of sheet metal experience and strong communication skills. Labor duties involve lifting and moving materials, using hand and power tools, and ensuring high-quality finishes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints to determine fabrication, assembly and installation.
• Measure and lay out materials using scribes, micrometers, Vernier, calipers.
• Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, and finish metal surfaces and joints for safety and appearance.
• Fasten details on aircraft and engine components with rivets and fasteners.

Position Details:

1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Your Expertise:

• 1-4 years of sheet metal, shop assembly experience
• Ability to cross train to support all areas of Sheet Metal Assembly
• Ability to lift heavy materials and tools
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues

Your Challenge:

• Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how to where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products
• Measure, mark dimensions and lay out materials to be installed using tools such as scribes, micrometers, Vernier, calipers, etc.
• Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and seamless appearance.
• Fasten details on aircraft and industrial engine components using rivets, fasteners, bolts, etc.

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
