Job summary

Barnes Aerospace is seeking a Sheet Metal Assembly worker in East Granby, CT. The role involves reading blueprints, fabricating and assembling sheet metal parts, and ensuring quality finishes for aerospace components.

You will use hand and power tools, interpret drawings, and work collaboratively with a team to meet production targets. First shift availability, competitive wages and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-4 years of sheet metal assembly experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must be able to lift heavy materials.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products.
  • Measure and lay out materials using tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Trim, buff and finish metal surfaces for safe, seamless assembly.
  • Fasten parts using rivets, bolts and other fasteners on aircraft components.

1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Your Expertise:
  • 1-4 years of sheet metal, shop assembly experience
  • Ability to cross train to support all areas of Sheet Metal Assembly
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and tools
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues

  • Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how to where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products
  • Measure, mark dimensions and lay out materials to be installed using tools such as scribes, micrometers, Vernier, calipers, etc.
  • Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and seamless appearance.
  • Fasten details on aircraft and industrial engine components using rivets, fasteners, bolts, etc.
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
