Job summary

Barnes Aerospace in East Granby, CT, is seeking a Sheet Metal Assembler for 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 7:00am-3:30pm). You will read blueprints, measure and lay out materials, and assemble sheet metal parts for aircraft and industrial components.

The ideal candidate has 1–4 years of sheet metal experience, ability to lift heavy tools, and strong communication and problem-solving skills to work collaboratively on complex assemblies. Equal opportunity employer.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products.
• Measure, mark dimensions and lay out materials using tools such as scribes and calipers.
• Use hand and power tools to finish metal surfaces and joints for safety and appearance.
• Fasten details on aircraft and engine components using rivets and bolts.

Position Details:

1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Your Expertise:

• 1-4 years of sheet metal, shop assembly experience
• Ability to cross train to support all areas of Sheet Metal Assembly
• Ability to lift heavy materials and tools
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues

Your Challenge:

• Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how to where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products
• Measure, mark dimensions and lay out materials to be installed using tools such as scribes, micrometers, Vernier, calipers, etc.
• Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and seamless appearance.
• Fasten details on aircraft and industrial engine components using rivets, fasteners, bolts, etc.

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
