Job summary

Hillphoenix in Iowa is seeking a Machine Operator II – Sheetmetal to support our Operations department. You will operate brake presses, lasers, punch presses, sanders, and deburring machines, ensuring parts meet blueprints and spec sheets.

You’ll read blueprints, measurements, and work orders, perform routine maintenance, and maintain a clean, safe workstation while collaborating with the kit and production teams to meet schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints and work orders.
• Ability to read rulers, tapes, calipers and gauges.
• Experience operating sheet metal equipment and basic maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate all equipment in the sheet metal department, including brake presses, lasers, punch presses, sanders, and deburring machines
• Fill all part requirements to complete rounds for the kitting department
• Read rulers, tape measurers, metal squares, angle finders, protractors, and other measuring instruments
• Read and follow written and verbal instructions
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders
• Perform appropriate preventative maintenance on equipment and tooling
• Examine finished work pieces for smoothness, shape, angle, or conformity to specifications and verify dimensions, visually and using hands, rulers, calipers, templates, or gauges
• Start machines, adjust controls, and make trial cuts to ensure that machinery is operating properly
• Monitor operations of machines and make adjustments to correct problems and ensure conformance to specifications
• Work at different workstations as production needs require
• Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
• Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation on individual’s product line or work cell
• Perform other duties as assigned
