Job summary

Jobot is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic in San Diego, CA to fabricate, assemble and repair sheet metal components in a manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will read blueprints, use precision instruments, and operate hand and power tools to produce parts that meet customer specs.

Schedule is 4/10 with two shifts: 6am-4:30pm or 4pm-2:30am. Must have 2+ years of sheet metal experience and strong blueprint-reading abilities.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify tolerances.
• Operate fabrication equipment (brakes, shears, drills, punches).
• Collaborate with production, quality and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit, form, and assemble sheet metal components per drawings.
• Read blueprints, sketches and specifications.
• Operate brakes, shears, presses, drills, punches and grinders; use hand tools.
• Layout, measure, mark and cut materials to size.
• Drill, rivet, fasten, deburr and assemble parts.
• Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers and height gauges.
• Ensure quality and maintain clean, safe work area.
• Work with teams to meet production schedules.

Job Details

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic to fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair sheet metal components and assemblies in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, using precision measuring instruments, and working with various hand and power tools to produce quality parts that meet customer specifications.

4/10 Schedule

• M-T 6am-430pm
• M-T 4pm-230am

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit, form, and assemble sheet metal components according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications.
• Operate fabrication equipment including brakes, shears, presses, drills, punches, grinders, and hand tools.
• Lay out, measure, mark, and cut materials to required dimensions.
• Perform drilling, riveting, fastening, deburring, and assembly operations.
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Verify conformance to quality standards and dimensional tolerances.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work collaboratively with production, quality, and engineering teams to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years of sheet metal fabrication, assembly, or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of fabrication and assembly techniques.
