Job summary

Comfort Systems USA Southeast is hiring a Sheet Metal Journeyman to join our mechanical construction team. You will fabricate, assemble, and install HVAC systems on commercial and industrial sites, with occasional travel to project locations.

You must have 4+ years in the HVAC/mechanical trade, a Journeyman license, and the ability to coach apprentices. OSHA-10 is preferred and a high school diploma or GED is expected.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of HVAC/mechanical trade experience on commercial/industrial sites.
• Current/valid Journeyman license in applicable state.
• Experience leading/coaching an Apprentice.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred (company will provide if needed).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC materials including duct, dampers, and air moving equipment on site.
• Assemble duct work per blueprints and specifications.
• Fabricate/alter parts with sheet metal tools and power tools.
• Install hangers, connections, and final hardware to equipment.
• Finish surfaces and joints; secure with bolts, caulk, clips.
• Drill/punch holes; install duct taps and connect to branch ducts.
• Work from ladders and lifts; operate man lift or duct jack as needed.
• Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Job description

As a Sheet Metal Journeyman, you work with the mechanical construction team to fabricate, assemble, and install mechanical systems on various commercial and industrial construction sites. Ability to travel, as needed, for projects

Compensation

• Wage Range Starting at: $24.00+/hr. based on qualifications & experience

Job Duties

• Install of a variety of HVAC materials including but not limited to round pipe/spiral duct, flex duct, motorized dampers, air devices, louvers and air moving equipment
• Install duct work and sheet metal assemblies on work site according to blueprints and specifications
• Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, snips, drills, brakes, and bending rollers along with other handheld and power tools
• Install support hangers, make duct connection using clips, drives, nuts, bolts, TDC tape, sealer, sheet metal screws, etc.
• Install manual dampers, supporting hardware, etc., make final connections to equipment
• Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces, seams and joints of assembled parts using hand tools and portable power tools
• Fasten seams and joints with bolts, cement, rivets, caulk, clips, etc
• Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, rivets, and install spin-in, peel and stick, or airtight duct taps, connect to branch duct
• Able to work off ladders, man lifts and other equipment from various heights
• Operate man lift, personal lift, chain hoist, duct jack
• Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned

Requirements

• 4 or more years of experience working within the HVAC/mechanical trade installing systems on commercial and industrial construction sites
• Current/valid Journeyman license in applicable state
• Experience with tools including but not limited to shears, brakes, bending rolls, punch, drill press, snips and other hand and power tools
• Experience leading/coaching an Apprentice
• Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, drawings, and other equipment layout materials
• OSHA 10 certification preferred (company will provide if needed)
• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening and MVR
