Job summary

Comfort Systems USA Southeast is seeking a Sheet Metal Journeyman to install and fabricate HVAC ductwork on commercial and industrial construction sites in Florida. You will read blueprints, coordinate with the mechanical team, and supervise an apprentice when needed.

Travel may be required to support projects, with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship. Applicants should have 4+ years of HVAC installation experience and a valid Journeyman license.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of HVAC/mechanical installation experience on commercial/industrial sites.
• Current/valid Journeyman license in applicable state.
• Experience with sheet metal tools for fabrication and installation.
• Able to lead or coach an apprentice.
• Familiarity with blueprints, schematics and drawings.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred (training provided if needed).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC ductwork and sheet metal components per blueprints and specs.
• Fabricate or alter parts using hand and power tools.
• Install supports, connections, joints, and sealants.
• Work at heights using ladders and lifts as needed.
• Read plans and coordinate with mechanical team on-site.

Job description

As aSheet Metal Journeyman, you work with the mechanical construction team to fabricate, assemble, and install mechanical systems on various commercial and industrial construction sites. Ability to travel, as needed, for projects

Compensation

• Wage Range Starting at: $24.00+/hr. based on qualifications & experience

Job Duties

• Install of a variety of HVAC materials including but not limited to round pipe/spiral duct, flex duct, motorized dampers, air devices, louvers and air moving equipment
• Install duct work and sheet metal assemblies on work site according to blueprints and specifications
• Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, snips, drills, brakes, and bending rollers along with other handheld and power tools
• Install support hangers, make duct connection using clips, drives, nuts, bolts, TDC tape, sealer, sheet metal screws, etc.
• Install manual dampers, supporting hardware, etc., make final connections to equipment
• Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces, seams and joints of assembled parts using hand tools and portable power tools
• Fasten seams and joints with bolts, cement, rivets, caulk, clips, etc
• Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, rivets, and install spin-in, peel and stick, or airtight duct taps, connect to branch duct
• Able to work off ladders, man lifts and other equipment from various heights
• Operate man lift, personal lift, chain hoist, duct jack
• Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned

Requirements

• 4 or more years of experience working within the HVAC/mechanical trade installing systems on commercial and industrial construction sites
• Current/valid Journeyman license in applicable state
• Experience with tools including but not limited to shears, brakes, bending rolls, punch, drill press, snips and other hand and power tools
• Experience leading/coaching an Apprentice
• Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, drawings, and other equipment layout materials
• OSHA 10 certification preferred (company will provide if needed)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
