Job summary

Comfort Systems USA (Southeast), Inc. is seeking a Sheet Metal Journeyman to join the mechanical construction team. You will fabricate, assemble, install HVAC systems on commercial and industrial sites and travel as needed for projects.

Responsibilities include installing ductwork per blueprints, fabricating parts, and operating lifts and hand tools. Valid Journeyman license and OSHA10 are preferred, with a HS diploma or GED recommended.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical trade installing systems on commercial/industrial sites.
• Current/valid Journeyman license in applicable state.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred (company will provide if needed).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, drawings, and other equipment layout materials.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC materials including duct, round pipe, flex duct, dampers, air devices and moving equipment.
• Install duct work and sheet metal assemblies per blueprints/specifications.
• Fabricate/alter parts using hand and power tools.
• Install support hangers and duct connections.
• Install dampers, hardware and final connections to equipment.
• Finish surfaces and joints with hand/power tools.
• Drill/punch holes and install duct taps and branch connections.
• Work from ladders, man lifts and equipment at various heights.
• Operate man lifts, chain hoists and duct jacks.

Job description

As aSheet Metal Journeyman, you work with the mechanical construction team to fabricate, assemble, and install mechanical systems on various commercial and industrial construction sites. Ability to travel, as needed, for projects

Compensation

• Wage Range Starting at: $24.00+/hr. based on qualifications & experience

Job Duties

• Install of a variety of HVAC materials including but not limited to round pipe/spiral duct, flex duct, motorized dampers, air devices, louvers and air moving equipment
• Install duct work and sheet metal assemblies on work site according to blueprints and specifications
• Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, snips, drills, brakes, and bending rollers along with other handheld and power tools
• Install support hangers, make duct connection using clips, drives, nuts, bolts, TDC tape, sealer, sheet metal screws, etc.
• Install manual dampers, supporting hardware, etc., make final connections to equipment
• Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces, seams and joints of assembled parts using hand tools and portable power tools
• Fasten seams and joints with bolts, cement, rivets, caulk, clips, etc
• Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, rivets, and install spin-in, peel and stick, or airtight duct taps, connect to branch duct
• Able to work off ladders, man lifts and other equipment from various heights
• Operate man lift, personal lift, chain hoist, duct jack
• Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned

Requirements

• 4 or more years of experience working within the HVAC/mechanical trade installing systems on commercial and industrial construction sites
• Current/valid Journeyman license in applicable state
• Experience with tools including but not limited to shears, brakes, bending rolls, punch, drill press, snips and other hand and power tools
• Experience leading/coaching an Apprentice
• Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, drawings, and other equipment layout materials
• OSHA 10 certification preferred (company will provide if needed)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
