Job summary

Pro-Type Metal Machining is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator to join a growing, employee-centric team in Sterling, VA. Read blueprints, set up and operate press brakes, shears, punches, and other fabrication equipment to produce precision parts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• 1–2 years’ experience as a sheet metal fabricator preferred but not required.
• Strong ability to read and work from blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Experience setting up and operating sheet metal fabrication equipment.
• Knowledge of sheet metal forming methods, tooling, bend allowances, and fabrication practices.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
• Ability to work with close tolerances and detailed specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work as part of a manufacturing team.
• Experience in aerospace/defense/AS9100 environment is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
• Perform sheet metal layout, measuring, forming, bending, cutting, drilling, deburring, and assembly.
• Set up and operate equipment such as press brakes, shears, punches, saws, drills, and other sheet metal fabrication machinery.
• Select tooling and determine machine settings for assigned work.
• Fabricate parts to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions.
• Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy and workmanship.
• Identify fabrication or drawing issues and communicate concerns to supervisors.
• Complete required production and job documentation accurately.
• Follow established quality procedures and AS9100 requirements.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety requirements, PPE, and equipment safety procedures.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and other departments.
