Skillforce, based in Capitol Heights, MD, is seeking a dependable Sheet Metal Fabrication Assistant for a full-time, direct-hire role. You will support sheet metal fabrication for commercial construction, reading shop drawings, operating fabrication machinery, and ensuring fit and quality of parts.

The ideal candidate has hands-on fabrication experience, strong measuring skills, and a safety-minded approach. Excellent teamwork and reliability are valued in this production-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on fabrication experience with sheet metal and basic fabrication techniques.
• Ability to read shop drawings and interpret layouts.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Comfort with measuring, cutting, bending, and punching sheet metal.

Responsibilities

• Measure, mark, cut, bend, notch, and punch sheet metal according to project requirements.
• Operate equipment such as hydraulic shears, folding machines, notchers, punches, and Iron Worker machinery.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, layouts, measurements, and specifications.
• Inspect completed pieces to ensure accuracy, quality, and proper fit.
• Track fabrication progress and communicate workload or scheduling needs with the production team.
• Maintain organized records and documentation related to fabrication work.
• Troubleshoot fabrication issues and work with supervisors and coworkers to resolve problems.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures.
