Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Design Engineer | Sheet Metal to join our client in Chicago. You will design and develop custom sheet metal components and assemblies, preparing detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation to support production.

You will collaborate with engineering, production and customers to optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance while ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in engineering design or product development.
• Strong mechanical aptitude in sheet metal fabrication and forming.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and engineering design software.
• Ability to read and apply engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to perform algebra and geometry in design calculations.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed part and assembly drawings for sheet metal products.
• Create, modify, and maintain 3D models and engineering documentation.
• Generate and manage BOMs to support production and configuration.
• Review samples and requirements to develop engineering solutions and plans.
• Use precision measuring equipment to collect dimensional data.
• Evaluate designs against performance and quality standards.
• Participate in design reviews with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with internal departments and suppliers to resolve issues.
• Support DFM initiatives to improve production efficiency and quality.
• Implement engineering changes and update drawings as required.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through design analysis.
• Provide technical support for customers and sales regarding configurations and costing.
• Prepare status reports communicating concerns and recommendations.
