Job summary

Shaw Industries is seeking a Shear Operator for a Sunday–Thursday night shift from 11pm to 7am at the Dalton, GA location. You will operate the shear machine, monitor the lint house, accumulators and guides, and step in as technician as needed.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED and are comfortable working in an industrial environment with noise, dust, and temperature variations, and will participate in pre-shift group stretching.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to stand, reach, and handle equipment.
• Must participate in group stretching prior to shift.
• Applicable to all Job Hazard Assessments (JHA's)

Position Overview

This position is Sunday - Thursday 11pm-7am.

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Responsible for operating the shear machine.

Essential Duties:

• Oversee the shearing process which enhances the carpet's finish
• Monitor the lint house for proper operation
• Monitor all accumulators and carpet guides
• Must fill in as technician as needed

Non-Essential Duties:

Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently required to reach, handle, stand, and stooр
• Close vision and good hearing required
• Work in a normal industrial environment with inherent background noise, dirt, humidity, and temperature variations
• Must participate in group stretching prior to shift

Other Requirements: Must be applicable to all JHA's
