Job Description
MARC is the association of local governments and metropolitan planning organization for the bistate Kansas City region. MARC serves as a forum for cities, counties and partners to work together on regional issues, including transportation, the environment, workforce and economic development, aging services, community development, quality early learning, public safety communications, emergency services and effective local government. Through planning, coordination and shared solutions, MARC helps communities across the region work more efficiently and effectively while advancing social, economic and environmental progress.
MARC is seeking a Shared Services Program Coordinator who will help local governments and public-sector partners connect with services that support stronger, more efficient operations. This role will support several value-added programs and by-request services for MARC members, helping members understand available options, navigate resources, and receive excellent service.

This is a full-time, exempt professional position that supports MARC’s shared services, including KC Gov Jobs, the MARC salary survey, Government Training Institute, planning and permitting services, cooperative purchasing, and other member-focused resources. This is a newly adapted position created to bring together work that has been spread across multiple staff members and to add capacity for important programs within Local Government Services. The right person will be comfortable learning existing workflows while also identifying opportunities to improve systems, expand reach, and support long-term program sustainability.

The anticipated mid-level starting salary range is approximately $70,000 to $80,000 , depending on qualifications. MARC offers a collaborative, mission-focused work environment and a competitive benefits package.
We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and we understand that candidate may come from a less traditional background. MARC may consider an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education and experience to meet minimum qualifications.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Education : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Work Experience : At least three years of experience in program coordination, training management, event management, or a related field. Direct experience coordinating programs, services, events, training, member engagement, or customer-facing operations required.
Experience working with local governments or public-sector organizations preferred.
Technology Experience : Demonstrated ability to learn and use technology platforms, customer relationship management systems, learning management systems, or similar software required. Experience with platforms such as GrowthZone, Salesforce, CRM systems, or TalentLMS is ideal but not required.

Initiative and follow-through: Skilled in taking initiative, anticipating needs, learning and adapting as work evolves, and following through on tasks, projects, and commitments.
Sound judgment and practical problem-solving: Ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions that improve processes, operations, and service delivery. Skilled in strategic thinking and long-range planning. Knowledgeable in financial and business management principles, including budgeting, documentation standards, program sustainability, and revenue-generating service models.
Attention to detail and reliability: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, maintain accurate records and documentation, and deliver dependable, high-quality work.
Ability to implement and improve systems/processes: Skilled in organizing work, establishing systems, learning new technology platforms, and improving workflows that support efficient operations and long-term program sustainability. Ability to apply new knowledge while demonstrating curiosity, patience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Service Orientation and Collaboration – Skilled in providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers, with timely, thorough, and professional responses. Ability to communicate with and work effectively with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds in a professional and respectful manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate across teams while successfully managing independent responsibilities. Ability to provide occasional support for events and programs outside regular business hours, including some early morning (< 7 a.m.) or evening availability as needed. (~1-2x a month).
