Job summary

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking qualified, self-motivated individuals to support grant-funded projects. This position is based at the Columbia Neighborhood Center within the Recreation Services Division of the Department of Library and Recreation Services.

You will handle daily administrative tasks, coordinate with partners and instructors, and help develop marketing plans to reach target participants. You may also assist with grant reports, billing, and program evaluations to ensure successful

Responsibilities

  • Develop a marketing plan with specific strategies and timelines to reach partners and participants
  • Monitor program quality and evaluate program effectiveness through participant surveys
  • Prepare grant reports, invoices and reimbursements to meet deadlines
  • Provide staff support to staff, partners and participants to ensure positive outcomes for registered participants in Evidenced-Based fitness programs for older adults
  • Familiarize with grant contracts, grantee handbook and report templates
  • Familiarize with Evidenced-Based fitness programs for older adults
  • Assist with website development and coordination
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30).

THE POSITION

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking qualified, self-motivated individuals interested in working with grant-funded projects. This position will be based at the Columbia Neighborhood Center in the Recreation Services Division of the Department of Library and Recreation Services.

(May include, but are not limited to, the following):

  • Responsible for day-to-day administrative tasks for grant-funded projects (i.e., register participants, set up virtual programs, communicate with partners and instructors, etc.)
  • Develop a marketing plan with specific strategies and timeline to reach the partners and participants each project is focused on serving and assist with implementation of marketing and outreach strategies.
  • Monitor program quality and evaluate program effectiveness through participant surveys
  • Responsible for completing grant reports, invoices and billing/reimbursement in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
  • Provide staff support to staff, partners, and participants as needed to ensure positive outcomes for registered participants in Evidenced-Based fitness programs for older adults.
  • Become familiar with grant contract, grantee handbook and report templates
  • Become familiar with Evidenced-Based fitness programs for older adults
  • Familiarity with website development and coordination
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work-related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing personal customer service. The need to lift, drag and push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds is also required. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodation.

  • Minimum age is 18 years old
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • One (1) year or summer of clerical or administrative experience
Licenses/Certifications

Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C CA driver's license and a safe driving record or the ability to supply alternate transportation as approved by the appointing authority

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Some college units in recreation, gerontology, education, social work, etc.
  • Experience with implementing grant-funded programs
  • Experienced working in collaborative with other organizations or schools to deliver a program
  • Experienced working with diverse individuals
  • Experienced working with general public
