Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, sociology, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in public health and/or program development.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in community engagement, sexual health, or violence prevention strongly preferred.
  • Experience in community engagement or community organizing.
  • Demonstrated relationship building and program coordination skills.
  • Understanding of community-level prevention and social determinants of health.

Responsibilities

  • Foster collaboration with community partners (e.g., colleges, coalitions) to reduce sexual violence.
  • Conduct outreach, data gathering and analysis, and deliver prevention education & training.

Crisis Services is actively seeking to fill a critical position on our Advocate Team. We are hiring a Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator who will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the sexual violence primary prevention strategies of the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) funded Communities Mobilizing for Safety (CMS) project throughout Erie County. We are seeking an experienced professional with a background in public health, education or a related health services field who is interested in championing our mission to provide support to anyone in need.

About this opportunity:

The Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator will foster collaboration with community partners (e.g. colleges and universities, coalitions, policymakers) through outreach and engagement. This includes helping to build a community that aims to reduce sexual violence by engaging community members as partners to increase awareness, change social norms, and create sustainable policy and environment change across Erie County. The Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator will conduct outreach, gather and analyze data, deliver prevention education & training, and manage program deliverables including reporting requirements and attendance at required NYSDOH meetings.

Job Type: Full Time, 40 hours/week

Pay: $23.50/hour

Schedule: Monday through Friday with occasional nights/weekends

Work Setting: Office-based with remote capabilities

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, sociology, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in public health and/or program development required.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in community engagement, sexual health, or violence prevention strongly preferred.
  • Experience in community engagement or community organizing.
  • Demonstrated relationship building.
  • Demonstrated program coordinator skills.
  • Understanding of community-level prevention and the social ecological model.
  • Understanding of social determinants of health and the connection to violence prevention.
  • Awareness of best practices related to sexual violence prevention education, risk reduction, and survivor support strategies.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and proactively identify, prioritize, and complete tasks.
  • Demonstrated program coordination and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • A valid NYS driver’s license is required with a clean driving record and access to reliable vehicle.
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet required.
