Job summary

Crisis Services in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Domestic Violence Case Manager to join the Advocate Department’s Case Management and Prevention Team. This role provides crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and follow-up for survivors of domestic and family violence.

You will coordinate with law enforcement, the district attorney's office, and community partners, and accompany survivors to EDs, courts, and hearings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in human services, public health, social work or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 6 months’ direct DV-related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and crisis intervention.
  • Ability to maintain ethical boundaries with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention, case management, advocacy and follow-up for survivors of domestic and family violence.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, the DA’s office and community agencies.
  • Accompany survivors to emergency departments, police, and court proceedings.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of services provided.

The Department provides comprehensive victim services to individuals who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, family violence and/or elder abuse. The Domestic Violence Case Manager provides crisis intervention, case management, advocacy and follow-up services to survivors of domestic and family violence. This individual will provide personal and criminal justice advocacy and accompaniment for survivors of domestic violence. Additional support for survivors may be provided during presentation at Erie County emergency departments, police precincts, and/or court proceedings. The Case Manager will assist with linkages between law enforcement, the district attorney’s office and other community-based agencies working with domestic violence survivors.Job Type:Full Time, 40 hours/weekPay:$22.04 - $25.81 per hourSchedule:Monday through FridaySome evening and/or weekend hours, as needed, and required on-call responsibilities.Work Setting:Onsite at Crisis Services, 100 River Rock Road, Suite 300, Buffalo, NYWhat you will bring:Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree from an accredited college and/or university in human services, public health, social work or related field, or equivalent experienceA minimum of 6 months’ relevant work experience preferably providing direct services in domestic/family violence response and/or prevention workDemonstrated knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and effects, public awareness and crisis intervention servicesClear and calm judgment centered on survivors and ability to maintain ethical boundaries with clientsSkilled in strategic and diplomatic collaborationKnowledge of practices and principles of empowermentA high degree of compassion, discretion and understanding for clientsAbility to work independently, in an organized fashion, maintaining attention to detail and accurate recordsAbility to manage multiple tasks and establish priorities in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environmentA valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to reliable automobileReady for the toughest job you’ll love coming back to?Crisis Services is a mission-driven organization that exemplifies professionalism and excellence in the delivery of crisis intervention.
