Job summary

Jimmy Jazz in Webster, MA is hiring a sewing mechanic to maintain and optimize sewing machines and automated cutting and quilting equipment within a mattress‑manufacturing setting.

You will monitor, adjust and repair machinery to sustain production performance and ensure safety procedures are followed across the facility.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of sewing machines and automated equipment.
• On-call rotation and travel flexibility.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Setup and configure sewing machinery for mattress manufacturing.
• Adjust machinery as needed to support quality and production.
• Order, build and install sewing equipment for daily tasks.
• Maintain spare parts inventory for all sewing equipment.
• Test and document operation of sewing equipment and keep a repair log.
• Lead safety-first culture and ensure safety procedures are followed in the facility.
• Perform other duties to support production, quality, and safety.

Description

The sewing mechanic is responsible for maintaining the optimal functionality and ensuring periodic maintenance of our production machinery, including sewing machines, computerized and automated machines,computerizedandautomatedcuttingequipment,computerizedandautomatedquiltingmachines, and tape edge sewing machines.

• Setupandconfigureeachmachinesothatitisoptimizedformattress manufacturing.

Adjustmachineryasneededtosupportqualityand production.

Order,buildandinstallsewingequipmenttoallowoperatortoperformdaily tasks.

Maintainsparepartsinventoryforallsewing equipment.

Testanddocumentoperationofallsewingequipmentandkeeparepair log.

Leadsafetyfirstcultureandhelpimplementandensuresafetyproceduresareusedthroughoutthe facility.

• Otherdutiesandtasksasneededtosupport production,quality,andsa fety.

Requirements

Knowledgeofbasicelectricalandmechanical systems

Knowledgeofsurging,straightstitch,multineedle,bartacking,automatedsewingmachinesand computerized cutting and sewing.

• Subject to an on-call rotation to respond to problems during off shift hours.
• Ability to travel to our Woodstock, CT facility, if necessary
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and bend, stoop and crawl.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent
