Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Longview is seeking a Sewer to assemble fabrics, zippers, and sub-components into finished mattress covers according to customer specifications.

Prior industrial sewing experience is required and you will work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced production area. The role includes setting up your sewing station, following sewing procedures, self-inspecting each step, and maintaining equipment while meeting quality and safety standards.

• Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision.

• Assemble using specified sewing procedures, fabric and tick components into a finished cover according to specified customer requirements.
• Self-inspect each step of the sewing process to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Place finished product onto table or skid for next step in production process.
• Enclose finished cover with neat seams to meet customer demands.
• Clean sewing machine and perform basic maintenance.
• Set up sewing area with adequate supplies.
• Adhere to established department production procedures.

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Sewer at our Longview manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for assembling individual fabrics, zippers, and other sub-components into fabricated mattress cover. Major challenges involve the efficient usage of various components to produce cushion covers per customer specifications.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Prior Industrial Sewing Experience Is Required.

• Receive and understand instructions from department supervisor or lead person.
• Accept work (component parts) distributed by material handlers or lead person.
• Assemble using specified sewing procedures, fabric and tick components into a finished cover according to specified customer requirements.
• Self-inspect each step of the sewing process to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Place finished product onto table or skid for next step in production process.
• Enclose finished cover with neat seams to meet customer demands.
• Clean sewing machine and perform basic maintenance.
• Set up sewing area with adequate supplies.
• Adhere to established department production procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Non-Essential Functions

• Assist with necessary inventory counting.
• Assist with turning finished covers from inside to outside appearance.

Education: High School diploma or GED is preferred

Compensation and Hours

• Hourly Rate: $22.02-22.75
• Work Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00 am-2:30 pm depending on business needs
