Job summary

The Town of Wallingford is seeking a trainee to support the Sewer Division in operation, inspection, and maintenance of sanitary sewers. You will participate in CCTV inspections and high velocity flushing, while learning to operate equipment such as trucks and jetting gear.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma and a year of construction/utility experience, with a path to CDL Class B and NEWEA certification within 24 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year as laborer in construction or utility maintenance.
• Must be able to obtain CDL Class B and NEWEA certification within 24 months.
• Appointment is provisional; termination if certifications are not obtained.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled tasks in operation, inspection, maintenance, repair and construction of sanitary sewers, including CCTV inspection and high velocity flushing.
• May operate, maintain and minor repair to equipment such as trucks, rodders and water jets; assist skilled tradesmen; snow removal and rights-of-way inspection.
