Job summary

Baltimore County is seeking an Engineer II in Sewer Design within the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Engineering & Construction. The role focuses on design, review, and management of capital improvement projects, including coordination with staff and consultants.

Responsibilities include GIS/CAD work, field inspections, and responding to public inquiries. A bachelor's in engineering and relevant experience are required, with licensure or EIT as preferred qualifications.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
Two years' field or office engineering experience.
Additional qualifying education beyond a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Possession of a certificate of registration as an Engineer in Training issued by a State within the United States of America, plus two years' field or office engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Design and review capital improvement projects.
Coordinate project schedules and deadlines.
Review and coordinate the work of in-house staff and consultants.
Operate GIS and CAD tools to prepare engineering drawings, plans and projects.
Perform periodic field inspections of construction projects (buildings, sewers, water systems, bridges, highways).
Investigate and respond to engineering-related public complaints.
Recommend approval or disapproval of plans and specifications for water and sewer projects.
Lead and assist less experienced personnel.
Perform other related duties as required.
