Job summary

Harford County seeks an Engineer to apply engineering principles in planning, design, and construction of major water and sewer projects. You will prepare specifications, cost estimates, and reports and may supervise projects.

Required BS in Civil/Mechanical Engineering with civil courses; EIT preferred; valid MD driver’s license; knowledge of GIS-based hydraulic models and water treatment basics essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or closely related field (e.g., B.E.T.) with civil courses.
  • Experience: None required; EIT preferred.
  • Valid Class C non-commercial driver's license; full license required; provide license number.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and construct water and sewer mains, plants, and pump stations.
  • Train personnel in planning, design, and management of water and sewer systems.
  • Review reports and designs to meet County specifications and objectives.
  • Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and construction plans for water and sewer projects.
  • Prepare, maintain, and analyze databases and GIS-based hydraulic models.
  • Act as project manager on relatively complex projects.
  • Coordinate with maintenance on tests and inspections.
