Job summary

Cherry Creek School District is seeking a Severe Needs Para Educator to support students with severe special education needs under licensed staff. You will work with individuals and small groups on curriculum, skill development, behavior strategies, and assignment completion in classroom and remote settings as required.

You will prepare instructional materials, monitor student progress, and maintain records while providing technical physical care and ensuring a safe, hygienic environment.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
• No professional work experience required.
• Title I assignments must meet one of the following requirements: two years of college, an associate’s degree, or a rigorous state/local assessment demonstrating ability to instruct.
• Mandatory Crisis Prevention Intervention training.
• Medication administration training as needed.
• Basic knowledge of standard office equipment and Microsoft Office.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with others.
• Ability to adapt curriculum for individual students.
• Ability to implement behavior modification techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with classroom activities and adapt curriculum for individual needs.
• Deliver curriculum to individuals and small groups to ensure skill generalization.
• Maintain records of student progress and behavior with licensed staff.
• Assist with materials preparation, tests, attendance, and related tasks.
• In Integrated Learning Center/ILC, reinforce behavior and assist in communication between students with special needs and general education peers.
• Support online learning activities, including technology troubleshooting and ensuring coursework completion.
