Job description

Position based in our Whitsett, NC facility. Base schedule Friday through Sunday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm with overtime as needed.

Scope

Setup Techs are tasked with start-to-finish setup of mill, lathe, and CNC machines to produce high‑quality valve and regulator parts. They read blueprints, start and operate machines, perform quality checks with gauging equipment, and perform minor preventative machine maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sets up manual/CNC and mill/lathe machines to produce metal valve and regulator parts in accordance with machine specifications.
  • Starts machines, positions and secures the workpiece, and engages bar feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms.
  • Reads blueprints and understands symbols for concentricity, runout, surface finish, machined/non‑machined surfaces, seat areas, and dimensions.
  • Detects product defects, contains defects, and resolves issues.
  • Works through machine malfunctions, performs basic troubleshooting, and makes minor adjustments as necessary.
  • Replaces dull or worn tooling in machines using hand tools.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, and tool marks from products using files, hand grinders, wire brushes, and power tools.
  • Performs quality checks by collecting measurements and dimensions using calipers, go/no‑go gages, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, concentricity gages and other measuring tools.
  • Enters quality control data using a Statistical Process Control System.
  • Performs minor preventative maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or workpieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
  • Actively participates in the ECI 6S program centered around work area safety (organization, standardization, and cleanliness) throughout the shift.
  • Actively participates in Kaizen events, focusing on continuous improvement of safety and efficiency practices related to individuals and processes within the manufacturing warehouse.
Education and Requirements
  • Integrity – reliability, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and basic shop mathematics, including measuring and effectively using calipers and other measuring tools.
  • Skill in reading and understanding mechanical blueprints.
  • Ability to perform work safely.
  • Must have high attention to detail and strong vision and hearing.
  • Ability to learn new machines and production procedures.
  • Must be a team player and willing to adapt to an ever‑changing work environment and engage in continuous personal development.
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds and perform repeated physical tasks.
