Job summary

The Legislative Policy & Research Committee is seeking 15-20 limited-duration, full-time Session Committee Assistants to support the 2027 Legislative Session in Salem, Oregon.

These on-site roles begin January 2027 and end when committee work closes in June 2027. You will provide neutral logistical and administrative support to committees, enabling nonpartisan operations and efficient meetings.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; one year of experience in clerical coordination and customer service.
• Ability to manage documents and support committee logistics.
• Experience with public records and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Acquire a basic understanding of the legislative process.
• Deliver excellent customer service to officials, staff, stakeholders, and the public.
• Create meeting agendas as directed by committee analysts.
• Operate and monitor meeting recording systems; create accurate meeting logs.
• Prepare meeting rooms and facilitate on-site and hybrid public participation.
• Record motions and votes; handle confidential documents per procedures.
• Create and maintain electronic files per Oregon public records law.
• Protect and adhere to the agency’s nonpartisan status and standards.
