Job summary

State of Oregon seeks 15–20 limited-duration Session Committee Assistants to support the 2027 Legislative Session. Positions are full-time, on-site at the State Capitol in Salem, January through June 2027, offering a front-row view of the legislative process in a fast-paced, nonpartisan environment.

You will provide neutral logistical and administrative support to committees staffed by the Legislative Fiscal Office, Legislative Revenue Office, and Legislative Policy and Research Office.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and 1 year of clerical/document coordination and customer service experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education/experience may substitute for 1 year.
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, or business preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire basic understanding of the legislative process.
  • Provide neutral, nonpartisan logistical and administrative support to committees.
  • Create meeting agendas as directed by committee analysts.
  • Operate meeting recording systems and log meetings.
  • Prepare meeting rooms and facilitate on-site and hybrid participation.
  • Record motions and votes; manage confidential documents.
  • Maintain electronic files per public records law.
