About the Role

The Principal Platform Architect - Builder is a high-impact role for a leader who can translate executive vision into production-ready platforms and then stay close enough to the work to help build them. This person operates at the intersection of business strategy, ServiceNow architecture, platform engineering, AI-enabled workflow modernization, and hands‑on delivery.

This is not a diagram-only architecture role. At Future Tech, architects are expected to advise, design, prototype, mentor, and deliver. You will partner with senior leaders, product teams, data and infrastructure groups, and engineering teams to shape platforms that improve developer productivity, accelerate automation, and create measurable business outcomes.

What You Will Do

• Design and deliver scalable ServiceNow and cloud-native platform architectures from early discovery through production release.
• Lead hands‑on implementation of foundational platform components, APIs, integrations, automation patterns, and developer tooling.
• Define reference architectures, engineering standards, reusable patterns, and governance models that teams can actually adopt.
• Guide technical decisions from proof of concept through launch, balancing speed, reliability, security, maintainability, and business value.
• Champion AI-ready platform design, including workflow intelligence, automation opportunities, data quality, and responsible adoption patterns.

Consulting, Advisory & Executive Alignment

• Act as a trusted advisory partner to business and technology leaders evaluating platform modernization opportunities.
• Diagnose complex platform challenges, scope engagements, clarify tradeoffs, and turn ambiguity into actionable roadmaps.
• Develop business cases, architecture proposals, capability assessments, and multi-year platform evolution plans.
• Translate technical concepts into clear executive narratives that help leaders make confident investment decisions.

Innovation, Prototyping & Community Leadership

• Lead internal and external hackathons, innovation sprints, and rapid prototyping efforts tied to emerging platform capabilities.
• Use builder-friendly demos and prototypes to validate architectural ideas quickly and create momentum for adoption.
• Represent Future Tech in ServiceNow community events, architecture forums, and technical knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Mentor platform engineers and architects through design critique, code review, documentation, and repeatable delivery practices.

What You Bring – Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, enterprise architecture, or related technology experience.
• 5+ years working with ServiceNow platform architecture, solution architecture, or enterprise-scale ServiceNow delivery.
• Experience designing and building large-scale platforms, integrations, APIs, microservices, workflow automation, and developer-facing tools.
• Strong consulting skills, including discovery, facilitation, problem framing, stakeholder alignment, and recommendation development.
• Executive-level communication skills with the ability to move fluently between strategic planning sessions and deep engineering discussions.
• A builder mindset: comfort prototyping, reviewing implementation decisions, and helping teams turn architecture into working software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in technical consulting, client-facing advisory work, or enterprise transformation programs.
• Experience with AI-enabled workflows, automation strategy, data platforms, observability, DevOps, or cloud modernization.
• History of speaking, writing, mentoring, leading communities of practice, or facilitating innovation events.
• Advanced degree or equivalent depth in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field.
