ServiceNow is seeking a Platform Expert for a senior engineering role in Chicago. You will lead architecture, performance optimization, and cross-team alignment across ITSM/ITOM and enterprise workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in enterprise IT with direct, hands-on experience as a ServiceNow platform engineer or developer, including architecture, custom development, and platform integration.
• Deep expertise in ServiceNow platform internals, performance tuning, and module level customization across ITSM, ITOM, or other enterprise workflows.
• Experience with client and server-side JavaScript and Java (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle / MySQL / PostgreSQL) and SQL performance.
• Experience with dynamic HTML components (AJAX, JavaScript, DOM, CSS, XML/HTML).
• Experience reading/analyzing application logs; Splunk a plus.
• Experience scripting: JavaScript, Python, Perl, Unix Shell, Windows Shell.
• Experience administering Linux/Unix or Windows Server.

• Optimize for Performance at Scale: Define and track platform KPIs, implement real-time monitoring, and lead efforts to fine-tune performance across services and systems.
• Be a Strategic Partner: Provide consultative guidance to peer engineering teams on performance, capacity planning, and scalable infrastructure best practices.
