Job description

With only general direction, this position is responsible for developing, configuring, and maintaining ServiceNow solutions that support software and hardware asset life cycle management, IT service management, compliance, and related business processes. This includes evaluating and writing/deciphering business and technical requirements , designing and coding ServiceNow applications and enhancements, developing integrations with legacy and other enterprise systems, building complex CMDB hierarchy, reports, and dashboards, and supporting break/fix tickets, releases, and assigned projects.

Essential Functions:
  1. Designs, configures, documents, codes, tests, debugs, and maintains ServiceNow applications, modules, workflows, and related solutions supporting asset management, service management, reporting, and business requirements.
  2. Develops and maintains ServiceNow capabilities supporting software asset management, hardware asset management, configuration management, procurement, licensing, renewals, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
  3. Analyzes business and technical requirements and translates them into ServiceNow designs, technical specifications, CMDB data models and hierarchy, forms, catalog items, workflows, reports, dashboards, and automated processes.
  4. Develops and maintains ServiceNow scripts and configurations, including business rules, client scripts, UI policies, script includes, access controls, notifications, data policies, and other platform components.
  5. Designs and constructs interfaces between ServiceNow and application, enterprise resource planning, procurement, directory, financial, legacy, and other related systems. Supports data imports, exports, transformations, integrations, and integration troubleshooting.
  6. Designs and codes solutions for break/fix tickets, enhancement releases, platform improvements, and assigned projects. Performs unit testing, system testing, debugging, deployment, and post-implementation support.
  7. Maintains the ServiceNow asset management database and related data, including the input, update, validation, reconciliation, and connection of information associated with requisition, procurement, receiving, deployment, licensing, maintenance, inventory, and retirement.
  8. Develops ServiceNow workflows and automated processes for software and hardware requests, approvals, purchase orders, renewals, license assignments, audits, incidents, tasks, and other operational activities.
  9. Performs software license reviews, virtual and physical audits, data quality reviews, and compliance assessments. Uses ServiceNow data, complex reports, and dashboards to identify discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, and track resolution.
  10. Ensures ServiceNow solutions and related programs meet applicable compliance, reporting, security, privacy, access control, and company standards. Recommends improvements to platform architecture, development practices, and system standards.
  11. Develops, recommends, and implements policies, procedures, and standards for ServiceNow development, configuration management, asset management, license compliance, data quality, testing, release management, integrations, and platform support.
  12. Prepares periodic and special-purpose reports and dashboards, including asset utilization, license availability, compliance, renewal, procurement, service, and system performance data.
  13. Supports ServiceNow upgrades, releases, application maintenance, testing, documentation, and deployment activities. Maintains appropriate development documentation, technical specifications, configuration records, and change information.
  14. Manages inquiries regarding ServiceNow functionality, software and hardware requests, non-standard purchases, renewals, usage, deployment, license availability, vendor audits, and related processes. May serve as a primary contact with suppliers and vendors.
  15. Provides licensing education, ServiceNow process guidance, training, and direction to internal customers and less experienced staff, including creating baseline ITAM process documentation for the team to expand on operationally.
  16. Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  18. Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Qualifications:

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline and five or more years of professional experience in ServiceNow development, administration, applications development, IT asset management, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.

Must demonstrate a complete understanding of ServiceNow development and configuration principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. Must have experience with ServiceNow application development, scripting, workflow automation, integrations, CMDB design and hierarchy, data management, reporting, dashboards, testing, and deployment. Experience with ServiceNow ITSM, ITAM, Software Asset Management, Hardware Asset Management, Configuration Management, or related applications is strongly preferred.

Must have experience organizing, planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates. Must be able to understand new concepts quickly and apply them in an evolving environment while contributing to the development of new processes and platform capabilities.

  4. Strong computer skills, including ServiceNow development and configuration, scripting, databases, integrations, reporting tools, dashboards, and related technologies.
