Job summary

University Health KC is seeking an Application Developer to design, develop, test, and support ServiceNow-powered applications within the IT Applications team in Kansas City, MO. The role emphasizes collaborating with end users, leadership, and other developers to translate business needs into reliable technology solutions.

You will build and maintain applications, perform upgrades, and help implement enhancements while ensuring minimal downtime and strong documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems is required.
• Experience with programming languages including Visual Basic, SQL, Shell Script, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, HTML, and JavaScript.
• Strong ability to communicate with customers, colleagues, and management.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new applications and perform upgrades, fixes, and enhancements to existing applications as assigned.
• Minimize application downtime through thorough design, documentation, testing, and maintenance.
• Design, develop, and test databases as necessary to support applications.
• Assist with planning and estimating work efforts related to new application development, application upgrades, and incident resolution.
• Communicate known and foreseeable issues to IT Leadership.
• Develop and maintain expertise in the use of automated tools for software and database design and implementation.
• Code, test, and debug programs to support organizational requirements.
• Create system documentation and detailed program specifications.
• Collaborate with end users to analyze and resolve issues and define requirements for new applications or functionality.
• Provide necessary training for newly created or upgraded applications or added functionality and features.
• Assume responsibility for on-call production support.
