Job summary

Ingersoll Rand seeks a Service Technician (West Area) to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all make of air compressors and related systems. The role involves field service across the West Area, precise diagnostics, and following manuals for operations and parts usage.

The position requires 2+ years of mechanical troubleshoot experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to be on-call. Company vehicle and comprehensive benefits are included.

Job Overview

The Field Service Technician will install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all make of rotary screw, reciprocating, and Centac/ECC air compressors and related compressed‑air system components. Responsibilities include precision measurement for diagnostics, and use of equipment operation and parts manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed‑air equipment.
• Interact with customers to address existing and unanticipated equipment issues.
• Collaborate with the Service Coordinator to order and gather required parts and supplies.
• Assist and train apprentices and field service technicians.
• Communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.
• Provide technical assistance on pre‑commissioning, start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed‑air systems.
• Educate customers on Ingersoll Rand product solutions including preventative maintenance, diagnostics, audits and leak detection.

Requirements

• Two (2) years or more of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record (no major violations such as DUI, hit & run, license suspension etc. in the past 5 years).
• Will be on call 24/7 during 1‑week on‑call periods, except the first 90 days.
• Physical ability to lift, stoop, kneel and walk regularly.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Own a mechanic’s set of tools; speciality tools will be supplied.

Core Competencies

• Read wiring schematics and diagrams.
• Install advanced network systems (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
• Basic vibration troubleshooting.
• Basic air‑quality system maintenance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and handheld computing (smartphone, iPad).
• Maintain cost‑efficient business travel practices.

Preferences

• Experience with industrial air‑compressor maintenance.
• EPA certification.
• Veteran or active‑duty military status.

Travel & Work Arrangements

• Daily travel within a three‑hour radius of the assigned service area.
• Company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.

Pay Range

Starting hourly pay ranges from $25.00 to $40.00, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full‑time, hourly position.
