Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Field Service Technician to service compressed air systems, troubleshoot equipment, and perform installations with hands-on support from senior technicians. The role includes traveling to customer sites and providing customer training as needed.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in industrial mechanics, a valid driver’s license, and a readiness to be on-call. A company vehicle is provided for daily travel and service assignments.

  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial/mechanical systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record.
  • Willingness to travel within a 3-hour radius and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on compressed air equipment and address customer concerns.
  • Collaborate with Service Coordinator to order parts and complete installations/repairs.
  • Assist and train apprentices and other Field Service Technicians.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers in verbal and written form.
  • Provide technical assistance on pre-commissioning, start-ups, installations, and repairs of compressed air systems with limited guidance.
  • Promote knowledge of Ingersoll Rand products and services to customers.

Job Overview

The Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand's Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating and/or Centac and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. You will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment. In addition, you need to have knowledge of all operations and parts manuals associated with all equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed air equipment, interacting with customers to address equipment concerns.
  • Collaborate with Service Coordinator on ordering and gathering parts and supplies necessary to complete installations and repairs.
  • Assist and train apprentices and other Field Service Technicians.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.
  • Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning, start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed air systems, ensuring equipment operates to customer’s requirement with limited guidance from the Master Technician.
  • Increase customer awareness of Ingersoll Rand products, services and solutions such as Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits and Leak Detection.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
  • Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations.
  • Will be on-call; first 90 days off‑call, thereafter on‑call weeks as scheduled.
  • Highly physical work: regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping and kneeling; ability to lift and move weight limits in line with safety policy.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a mechanic’s set of tools; specialty tools will be provided.
Core Competencies
  • Reading wiring schematics and diagrams.
  • Advanced network system installations (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
  • Basic vibration troubleshooting.
  • Basic air quality (system compressor/dryer – air treatment).
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer usage; proficiency with handheld computer and network bases.
  • Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner.
Preferences
  • Industrial air compressor maintenance & knowledge.
  • EPA Certification.
  • Veterans or Active‑Duty Military encouraged to apply.
Travel & Work Arrangements
  • Service Technicians will travel daily within a 3‑hour radius of service area.
  • A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
Pay Range

Starting pay will range between $25.00–$40.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full‑time hourly position.
