Job Overview

The Underground Field Service Technician at Komatsu is responsible for maintaining and optimizing critical underground machinery, ensuring operational efficiency and safety in mining and industrial operations. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in challenging underground environments, requiring hands‑on expertise and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive Equipment Maintenance: Execute thorough maintenance, inspection, and repair of underground mining machinery, minimizing downtime.
  • Advanced Diagnostic Analysis: Utilize sophisticated diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues.
  • Field Service Expertise: Travel to underground mining sites for on‑site repairs, timely component replacements, and system adjustments.
  • Quality Assurance Testing: Conduct rigorous post‑repair testing to verify equipment performance meets manufacturer and safety standards.
  • Technical Documentation Utilization: Interpret schematics and technical manuals for low‑voltage control systems to perform precise repairs.
  • Mechanical Alignment: Align and calibrate motor couplings, transfer cases, gearboxes, and related assemblies to prevent failure.
  • Safety and Compliance: Rigorously follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements for underground work and equipment handling.
