Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. is seeking a Service Technician for our US Distribution to maintain and repair mining equipment onsite. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, perform alignments, and ensure safety and reliability on customer sites.

The role requires an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent training, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to travel to varied mining sites. Excellent teamwork and communication are essential for success in this dynamic field

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a related technical service role, with preference for candidates familiar with mining or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft, or occupation, or the equivalent of at least one year of technical college education focused on mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
  • Working knowledge of motor control systems, circuit installation processes, and the ability to interpret and apply schematic diagrams to real-world troubleshooting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrable experience in aligning motor couplings, transfer cases, and gearboxes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
  • Flexibility to travel and operate in varied job site conditions typical of surface mining environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough maintenance, repair, servicing, and inspection activities on a wide range of mining equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Skillfully diagnose issues related to mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, leveraging expertise to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components, or subsystems at customer sites, maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety compliance.
  • Conduct rigorous testing of repaired equipment to verify performance and reliability before returning machinery to operational status.
  • Work collaboratively with field service teams to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of service requirements in demanding environments.
  • Utilize knowledge of motor controls, circuit installations, and schematic reading to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical alignments, including couplings on motors, transfer cases, and gearboxes, to support equipment longevity and performance.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs, contributing to continuous improvement efforts and customer satisfaction metrics.
