Description

Anderson Auto is looking for a service technician to join our team. The service technician is responsible for conducting a full service and/or repairs on customer vehicles that are brought into the shop. This is an important job that directly contributes to the success of business operations.

Required Education/Skills/Abilities
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in an automotive related technician/mechanic role.
  • High School or GED preferred
  • ASE certification preferred but not required
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License, clean driving history
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and processes, and adapt to change
  • Ability to innovate, solve complex issues, and present new ideas
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Experience working in a team-based environment and achieving common goals
  • Evidence of a "safety first" attitude
  • Basic command of the English language
  • Basic computer skills, including navigating web browsers and using standard applications
Essential Functions
  • Conducts general repair and replacement services to include: brake pads and shoes, tires, wheel alignment, steering and suspension components, wheel bearings, exhaust systems, heating and cooling systems, air conditioning, drive train, and accessory installations.
  • Performs maintenance services to include: oil changes, fluid exchanges, filter replacement, fuel system services, preventative maintenance, belt and hose replacement.
  • Performs evaluation services to include: charging system analysis, brake inspections, fluid leak evaluations, tire pressure and tread depth reading.
  • Conducts visual safety and courtesy inspections.
  • Performs diagnostic services to include: emissions control systems, drivability concerns, overheating, ABS and SRS systems, electrical and air conditioning systems.
  • Performs advanced repair and replacement services to include: timing belts, intake manifold gaskets, head gaskets, brake hydraulics, rear main seal, clutch, axle bearings, steering gear, sensors, switches and modules.
  • Uses factory specifications as the standard in all repair, service and customization work.
  • Maintains 100% productivity as the goal.
  • Receives service assignments from the service writer or service manager.
  • Completes repair work within the allotted time.
  • Sets goals, develops skills and constantly increases efficiency skill level.
  • Submits parts requests promptly.
  • Keeps service writer or service manager informed of any supplemental work or delays.
  • Aids service advisor as needed to guarantee customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures proper paperwork is completed and filed after every job completion.
  • Keeps technical qualifications current by finishing any required training programs.
  • Ensures the vehicle is cleaner when the job is completed than when the customer dropped it off.
  • Completes each job thoroughly to reduce return repairs.
  • Provides excellent service for all customers.
  • Maintains a clean, efficient work area.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner, reporting any accidents or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Shows up to work on time, ready to perform essential job functions.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Performs other tasks as directed.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

Physical Demands
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours will vary. This position regularly requires working evenings and weekends.

Travel

Occasional travel for training or to assist at other dealerships may be required.
