Job summary

Motion Industries is seeking a Service Technician II to repair, service, and build standard and custom hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems in a shop setting.

You will disassemble, inspect, diagnose, repair, assemble, test, and ship equipment, while guiding less experienced technicians and addressing customer questions to ensure clear understanding of the work. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of shop experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Perform maintenance on assigned customer products in the service shop.

  • Prepare job forms listing parts and work needed.
  • Design, fabricate, machine, and weld parts.
  • Assemble and test repaired equipment; prepare for shipment.
  • Assist customers with technical questions to explain work.
  • Build customer relationships to drive repeat business.
  • Mentor less experienced technicians.
  • Respond to inquiries, provide quotes, and process orders.

Job description

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Service Technician II repairs, services, and builds standard and custom systems for hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems. The Service Technician II may provide guidance to less experienced Service Technicians.


JOB DUTIES

  • Performs maintenance on assigned customer products that come through the service shop.
  • Disassembles, cleans, and inspects system components for repair.
  • Diagnoses system components and recommends a solution to the customer.
  • Prepares job form listing parts and works necessary to perform the repair.
  • Designs, fabricates, machines, and welds parts and components.
  • Repairs hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems. and other related items.
  • Assembles new and repaired equipment.
  • Tests repaired equipment for performance and prepares for shipment or long-term storage.
  • Assist customers by answering specific technical questions to help the customer understand the work to be done.
  • Responds to customer inquires regarding products, provides quotes, and handles order entry. Due to experience & training, may handle more challenging inquires.
  • Builds customer relationships to drive repeat business by relating to the customer and drive process improvements.
  • Assists less experienced Service Technicians with addressing customer needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Typically requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of shop experience or an equivalent combination.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment safely.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Push/pull up to 100 pounds
  • Lift/carry up to 100 pounds
  • Lift bulky objects
  • Neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, reach and lift, ladder climb and carry, crawling.
  • Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver's License.
