Job summary

Motion Industries in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Service Technician II to repair, service, and build standard and custom hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems. Under general supervision, you will work on customer products in the service shop and may guide less experienced technicians.

Duties include diagnosing issues, disassembling and inspecting components, fabricating parts, and testing equipment for performance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of shop experience.
  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance on customer products in the service shop.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble components.
  • Diagnose system issues and propose solutions.
  • Fabricate and weld parts as needed.
  • Test equipment and prepare for shipment or storage.
  • Assist customers with technical questions and quotes.

Job description

SUMMARY:Under general supervision, the Service Technician II repairs, services, and builds standard and custom systems for hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems. The Service Technician II may provide guidance to less experienced Service Technicians.JOB DUTIESPerforms maintenance on assigned customer products that come through the service shop.Disassembles, cleans, and inspects system components for repair.Diagnoses system components and recommends a solution to the customer.Prepares job form listing parts and works necessary to perform the repair.Designs, fabricates, machines, and welds parts and components.Repairs hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems. and other related items.Assembles new and repaired equipment.Tests repaired equipment for performance and prepares for shipment or long-term storage.Assist customers by answering specific technical questions to help the customer understand the work to be done.Responds to customer inquires regarding products, provides quotes, and handles order entry. Due to experience & training, may handle more challenging inquires.Builds customer relationships to drive repeat business by relating to the customer and drive process improvements.Assists less experienced Service Technicians with addressing customer needs.Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCETypically requires a high school diploma or GEDThree (3) to five (5) years of shop experience or an equivalent combination.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIESAbility to read hydraulic schematics.Strong communication skills required.Basic mechanical knowledge.Ability to operate shop equipment safely.Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Push/pull up to 100 poundsLift/carry up to 100 poundsLift bulky objectsNeck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, reach and lift, ladder climb and carry, crawling.Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor.
