Job summary

Motion Industries seeks a Service Technician II to repair and service hydraulic, fluid power, electrical and mechanical systems in a shop setting. You may guide less experienced technicians and respond to customer inquiries, quotes, and orders.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 3–5 years of shop experience. Strong communication, safe operation of shop equipment, and ability to work independently or in a team are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of shop experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics.
  • Good communication skills essential for customer interaction.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and safe shop equipment operation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance on assigned customer products in the service shop.
  • Disassembles, cleans, and inspects components for repair.
  • Diagnoses system components and recommends solutions to customers.
  • Prepares job forms listing parts and steps for repair.
  • Designs, fabricates, machines, and welds parts as needed.
  • Repairs hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Assembles new and repaired equipment.
  • Tests repaired equipment for performance and prepares for shipment or storage.
  • Responds to customer inquiries, provides quotes, and assists order entry.
  • Builds customer relationships to drive repeat business and process improvements.
  • Mentors less experienced Service Technicians.

Summary

Under general supervision, the Service Technician II repairs, services, and builds standard and custom systems for hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems. The Service Technician II may provide guidance to less experienced Service Technicians.

Job Duties
  • Performs maintenance on assigned customer products that come through the service shop.
  • Disassembles, cleans, and inspects system components for repair.
  • Diagnoses system components and recommends a solution to the customer.
  • Prepares job form listing parts and works necessary to perform the repair.
  • Designs, fabricates, machines, and welds parts and components.
  • Repairs hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems. and other related items.
  • Assembles new and repaired equipment.
  • Tests repaired equipment for performance and prepares for shipment or long-term storage.
  • Assist customers by answering specific technical questions to help the customer understand the work to be done.
  • Responds to customer inquires regarding products, provides quotes, and handles order entry. Due to experience & training, may handle more challenging inquires.
  • Builds customer relationships to drive repeat business by relating to the customer and drive process improvements.
  • Assists less experienced Service Technicians with addressing customer needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of shop experience or an equivalent combination.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment safely.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands
  • Push/pull up to 100 pounds
  • Lift/carry up to 100 pounds
  • Lift bulky objects
  • Neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, reach and lift, ladder climb and carry, crawling.
  • Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends.
