American Chiller Service, Inc. seeks a seasoned field HVAC commercial chiller technician to service a 100 mile radius, focusing on large tonnage chillers and central plant equipment.

The role requires substantial hands-on experience, on-call availability, and strong customer communication skills. Five branches across Northern California and Nevada support ongoing maintenance, retrofit, and new installation projects.

Qualifications

• 5 years of journeyman level experience in commercial/industrial HVAC.
• California license and EPA Universal Technician Certification are required.
• Knowledge of chillers, HVAC, and central plants, large tonnage field experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment including large chillers and cooling towers.
• Overhaul centrifugal/chiller systems where applicable.
• Rigging and site logistics for maintenance.
• End-to-end testing, start-ups and commissioning of chillers.
• Schedule and manage site-wide maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Provide on-site technical support and customer liaison.
• Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed.

American Chiller Service, Inc. (ACS) was formed in 1988 and now a subsidiary of Ambient Enterprises. We are a large tonnage commercial air conditioning service company specializing in Turbocor, centrifugal, absorption, screw, and reciprocating chillers. We offer chiller and cooling tower service, maintenance, retrofit, rental, and new equipment installations.

We’re hiring a field HVAC commercial chiller technician with strong chiller water system experience to service a 100 mile radius.

Essential Duties & Responibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment, including chillers 100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Overhaul of centrifugal chillers a plus.
• Familiar with all aspects of rigging.
• Support the office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.
• Availability for emergency service calls “on-call” through normal rotation.
• Responsible for end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Schedule and manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties for chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Perform daily and monthly preventative maintenance on all associated equipment of chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Ensure completion of maintenance within the scheduled month and allocated time.
• Maintaining positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all on-site equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• 5 years of work experience at the journeyman level and technical schooling.
• Commercial/Industrial air conditioning experience required.
• Knowledge of Chiller, HVAC, and Central Plants.
• HVAC large tonnage field knowledge is required.
• Must be available for emergency service calls “on call” through normal rotation.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Chillers / Refrigeration: Centrifugal Chillers, Screw Chillers, Magnetic Bearing, Oil-Free Chillers, Industrial Refrigeration, Central Plants, Chilled Water Systems

Licenses And Other Requirements

• Valid California License
• Active EPA Universal Technician Certification

Compensation
