Job summary

Mesa Energy Systems, Inc. in Santa Maria, CA is seeking a qualified Chiller Field Technician to maintain and repair central plant equipment, including large chillers, cooling towers, and related systems.

This role requires 5 years journeyman level experience, EPA certification, and availability for on-call emergency service, with responsibility for testing, startup, commissioning, and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

• 5 years of journeyman level work experience with technical schooling.
• Commercial/industrial air conditioning experience is required.

• HVAC large tonnage field knowledge is required.
• Must be available for emergency service calls on rotation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment including large chillers, motors, pumps and valves.
• Overhaul centrifugal chillers is a plus.
• Support office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.
• Provide end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Schedule and manage site maintenance, troubleshooting and repair duties.
• Perform daily and monthly preventative maintenance on chillers and cooling systems.
• Ensure on-time completion within scheduled month.

About Us

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment, including chillers 100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Overhaul of centrifugal chillers a plus.
• Familiar with all aspects of rigging.
• Support the office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.
• Availability for emergency service calls “on-call” through normal rotation.
• Responsible for end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Schedule and manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties for chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Perform daily and monthly preventative maintenance on all associated equipment of chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Ensure completion of maintenance within the scheduled month and allocated time.
• Maintaining positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all on-site equipment.
• Attend monthly safety meetings.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Work directly with the Chiller Field Supervisor on new and existing customer opportunities or issues.

Qualifications

• 5 years of work experience at the journeyman level and technical schooling.

• Must be available for emergency service calls “on call” through normal rotation.
• EPA certified.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Compensation Range: $40 - $90 per hour The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results.
