Job summary

Big Tex Trailer Manufacturing in Tucson is seeking an experienced Service Technician 2 to oversee service areas, perform advanced repairs and fabrication on trailers, truck beds, and related equipment, and engage customers about repairs and installations.

You will quote service work, maintain shop supplies, and help ensure safety and compliance while building parts knowledge and assisting with inventory and scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred.
• Associates Degree or trade school diploma preferred.
• Welding ability (MIG and oxy-acetylene) required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Maintain Service Schedule with supervisor.
• Inspect and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies.
• Quote service work and order parts using manuals and diagrams.
• Sell parts and services to customers.
• Assist in assembling trailers and moving trailers as needed.
• Complete paperwork and maintain logs.

SUMMARY

The Service Technician 2 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts. Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts / accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, accessories and Installs wood or metal flooring.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer in person and by phone with customers, write and read work orders. List parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, diagrams and must have the ability to quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
• Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
• Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
• Assist in the maintenance of parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts and supplies, receiving PO’s, and Cycle Counts.
• Assemble trailers.
• Park and move Trailers.
• Other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
• Must be available to work Monday – Saturday and overtime as needed
