Job summary

Big Tex Trailers is seeking a Service Technician 2 to maintain and repair trailers, perform installations, and sell parts and services. You will work with a team to ensure safety, quality, and timely completion of tasks across a busy service area.

The role requires welding skills (MIG/oxy-acetylene), a valid driver’s license, and the ability to manage work orders and customer communications. A Monday–Saturday schedule with overtime is common, with a $3,500 sign‑on/retention bonus offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Welding experience with MIG and oxy-acetylene preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Associates Degree or Trade School Diploma preferred; 2–3 years of applicable work experience preferred.
• Must be available to work Monday–Saturday and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn/defective parts; layout drills, screws, rivets, and welds for installations.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer with customers to quote service work and discuss repairs, installations, and solutions.
• Sell parts and service to customers.
• Help customers hook up a trailer and perform visual safety inspections.
• Perform warranty service and complete required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry timely; maintain parts logs.
• Assist in maintenance of parts inventory and cycle counts.
• Assemble trailers and park/move trailers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Service Technician 2 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts. Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts / accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, accessories and Installs wood or metal flooring.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer in person and by phone with customers, write and read work orders. List parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, diagrams and must have the ability to quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
• Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
• Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
• Assist in the maintenance of parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts and supplies, receiving PO’s, and Cycle Counts.
• Assemble trailers.
• Park and move Trailers.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
• Must be available to work Monday – Saturday and overtime as needed
