Job summary

Pico Propane and Fuels, a Meritum Energy Holdings Company, Caldwell, TX, is seeking an experienced Service Technician to install, repair, and maintain propane and oil generators, tanks, and related equipment. You will work on-site at customer locations, perform site surveys, and provide clear operating instructions for customers.

The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a focus on safety and service.

Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a Service Technician preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of propane and refined fuel systems.
• Ability to obtain TX RRC service and installation certification within 12 months.
• Ability to solve problems and repair equipment on site.
• Ability to use navigation tools such as GPS or maps.
• Maintain logs and records accurately.
• Carry out instructions with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Willingness to learn and support customer-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Travels to customers' homes or business locations.
• Installs generators, tanks and/or appliances.
• Repairs equipment such as generators, LP furnaces and water heaters.
• Performs site surveys and equipment setup recommendations.
• Troubleshoots problems with existing equipment and tests installations.
• Provides customers with operating instructions for new equipment.
• Maintains and cleans equipment and records stock levels.
• Maintains the work vehicle and performs basic maintenance.
• Assists with propane cylinder deliveries as needed.

Job Summary

Pico Propane and Fuels, a Meritum Energy Holdings Company, in Caldwell, TX is seeking an experienced and motivated Service Technician. The Service Technician will play a crucial role in the installation, repair, and maintenance of Propane and Oil generators, equipment and tanks. To ensure success as a Service Technician, one should have sound mechanical knowledge, be able work in confined spaces for an extended period, have exceptional communication skills, and a passion for customer service.

Ultimately, a top-class Service Technician provides expert installation services and dedicated support to all customers.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Travels to customers' homes or place of business
• Installs generators, tanks and/or appliances
• Repairs equipment such as generators, LP Furnaces, Water Heaters, LP appliances, etc
• Suggests areas where equipment should be set up – Site surveys
• Troubleshoots problems with existing equipment
• Tests old and new installation along with testing connections
• Provides customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipment
• Maintains equipment
• Cleans up after the job is complete
• Records and maintains stock levels
• Maintains the work vehicle and general maintenance of the vehicle
• Assist with propane cylinder deliveries as needed
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proven work experience as a Service Technician highly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of propane and refined fuel systems
• Ability to obtain TX RRC service and installation certification within twelve (12) months of employment (if not already certified)
• Ability to solve problems and repair equipment on site
• Ability to effectively and efficiently use navigation tools such as GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps
• Ability to maintain accurate logs and records
• Ability to carry out a series of instructions with limited supervision
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Willingness to learn , grow, and uphold a customer focused culture that continually strives to exceed expectations
• Support growth and retention efforts

Education, Certification, Licenses Required

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• CDL A or B required
• Service Technician License, highly preferred but not required
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Physical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 100 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift.
• Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift
• Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night.
• Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms
• Must be able to speak and hear
• Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
• Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
• Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
• Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, airborne particles and gases is common
